(June 3) 8b1ca8b810124058b9b6a381ba137c48 Thu, 03 Jun 2021 21:25:17 +0000 SHOTLIST:RESTRICTION SUMMARY:ASSOCIATED PRESS New York - 3 June 20211. An animated explainer of Radiopharmaceuticals, a new class of radiation drugs.STORYLINE:Radiation has been used for many years to treat cancer. Now, researchers have developed a new way to send radiation directly to cancer cells that have spread. It's an experimental drug given through an IV for advanced prostate cancer. Each dose contains trillions of engineered molecules. Each molecule has two parts: a tracker and a radioactive payload. The tracker hunts down prostate cancer cells, latching onto a protein receptor on the cell membrane and delivering the radiation. Each molecule can hit 100s of cancer cells in its range. Some of the cancer cells will die as their DNA is damaged by radiation. The radiation clears quickly from the body.Other such drugs currently approved include one for a rare tumor of the digestive tract. In the future, this approach may be used to treat other hard-to-reach cancers.===========================================================Clients are reminded: (i) to check the terms of their licence agreements for use of content outside news programming and that further advice and assistance can be obtained from the AP Archive on: Tel +44 (0) 20 7482 7482 Email: info@aparchive.com(ii) they should check with the applicable collecting society in their Territory regarding the clearance of any sound recording or performance included within the AP Television News service (iii) they have editorial responsibility for the use of all and any content included within the AP Television News service and for libel, privacy, compliance and third party rights applicable to their Territory.
