SOUNDBITE (English) Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, (D) Michigan:"Effective today, there is no more mask or gathering order. Effective today, there are no more capacity limits, indoors or outdoors. Effective today, our pure Michigan summer is back, and we can realize it."++WHITE FLASH++2.SOUNDBITE (English) Mayor Mike Duggan, (D) Detroit:"We're going to have still be vigilant, we got more people that need to be vaccinated. And make no mistake: this fall, this Delta variant, we're going to see this come back up again. It's going to happen if we don't get vaccinated. So, none of us are slowing down on the efforts. Please keep talking to your friends and relatives."++EDIT ENDS ON A SOUNDBITE++STORYLINE:Michigan is fully open again. After facing 15 months of capacity restrictions and being hit by the country's worst surge of coronavirus infections this spring, restaurants, entertainment businesses and other venues can operate at 100% occupancy starting Tuesday. Limits on indoor gatherings like weddings and funerals are gone. And so is a broad requirement that the unvaccinated be masked indoors. Michigan is among the last states to lift capacity caps, which has frustrated the business community. Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and public health officials say the restrictions were needed until enough residents could be vaccinated.Whitmer and other officials marked the day with a news conference at Belle Isle Park in Detroit, where Mayor Mike Duggan warned people to be vigilant because of the emerging Delta variant of the virus. He says efforts to get more people vaccinated will continue.===========================================================Clients are reminded: (i) to check the terms of their licence agreements for use of content outside news programming and that further advice and assistance can be obtained from the AP Archive on: Tel +44 (0) 20 7482 7482 Email: info@aparchive.com(ii) they should check with the applicable collecting society in their Territory regarding the clearance of any sound recording or performance included within the AP Television News service (iii) they have editorial responsibility for the use of all and any content included within the AP Television News service and for libel, privacy, compliance and third party rights applicable to their Territory.
